The Kansas City Chiefs made contact with a former star offensive player after two of their current wide receivers went down with injuries.

The Chiefs remained undefeated in Week 4 with a narrow 30-27 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, but lost breakout wide receiver Tyquan Thornton to a gruesome ankle injury late in the fourth quarter. That wasn’t the only major loss on the offensive side of the ball for Kansas City, as wide receiver Rashee Rice also left the game after pulling up with a hamstring issue in the first quarter.

With Thornton, who logged 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns prior to his injury, set for a spell on the sidelines and Rice’s status up in the air going forward, the Chiefs have now reportedly made contact with former standout wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who is currently a free agent.

The Athletic’s Michael Silver shared on social media after Kansas City’s Week 4 win that the team have “already reached out to Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus,” and players he talked to in the locker room, including Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, “are all for” a potential reunion.

Hill starred for the Chiefs for six seasons between 2016 and 2021 and was a major piece on the team that won Super Bowl LIV in the 2019 season. Along with Kelce, he is perhaps the most explosive offensive player Mahomes has ever teamed up with.

At their peak, NFL defenses could do little to slow down Mahomes and a player whose rightful nickname is ‘Cheetah.’

After leaving the Chiefs, Hill joined the Miami Dolphins and picked up exactly where he left off, leading the NFL in receiving yards (1,799) and receiving touchdowns (13) in the 2023 season.

As Miami regressed, so did Hill, and his 2025 season was ultimately cut short when he suffered a dislocated knee and torn ACL during a Week 4 game against the New York Jets.

Hill missed the remainder of the season and was released by the Dolphins in February 2026, making him a free agent.

The 32-year-old is still recovering from his injuries and is believed to be targeting a return some time in November, according to reports.

The eccentric pass-catcher has even been teasing a return to the field with a certain team on his social media, making cryptic posts like, “I think I’m ready for some cold weather” on Sept. 30 and “hm” on Sunday shortly after the Chiefs’ wide receivers went down.

At current, there is no deal in place and Hill is still weeks away from being deemed healthy enough to play, but all signs are pointing to a reunion that will certainly bring a smile to the faces of Chiefs fans.
