The Young Leaders Summit brought together 28 young people from across the United States in New York for a week of leadership, football and learning, focused on creating positive change in their communities.
Delivered by Manchester City and City in the Community New York, the Summit provided Young Leaders with opportunities to develop their skills, share experiences and explore how football can be used to inspire and empower others.
Throughout the week, participants took part in leadership workshops and practical coaching sessions led by City in the Community coaches from Manchester. The sessions gave Young Leaders the opportunity to strengthen their coaching and leadership skills, while building the confidence to put their learning into practice within their own communities.
Putting these skills into action, the Young Leaders delivered a community football festival alongside City in the Community participants from Brooklyn. The event gave the group first-hand experience of leading football activities and demonstrated how the game can bring people together and create a positive impact beyond the pitch.
Away from the football sessions, the group visited New York University for a panel discussion exploring career pathways, the growing influence of AI in sport and the role football can play as a force for good. Hearing from industry professionals encouraged participants to consider their own aspirations and the opportunities available to them within sport and beyond.
The Summit concluded with a celebration recognising the achievements and contributions of the Young Leaders throughout the week.
Following the experience, participants returned to communities across the United States with new skills, connections and confidence, ready to continue using football to create positive change.
