Liverpool were linked with Real Madrid forward Endrick during the summer transfer window, and the story has returned this week.
Fabrizio Romano addressed the reports on his YouTube channel.
Reports in August said that the Reds had shown interest in the 20-year-old Brazil international.
Endrick spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, where he made 16 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. He then returned to the Bernabeu.
His situation in Madrid has stayed in the spotlight since. So has the question of how far Liverpool’s interest went.
Romano said Liverpool were keen on Endrick but “never presented any sort of proposal.”
“Then there was also interest from Liverpool. Liverpool were keen on Endrick, but that’s it – they never presented any sort of proposal,” Romano said.
“Liverpool were thinking of Endrick, even to buy Endrick at some point. But Real Madrid closed the doors to loan and permanent transfer approaches. For Real Madrid, it was not possible to touch the player.”
Playing time has been scarce. Endrick has made one La Liga appearance this season, without a goal or assist. Mourinho said a small muscular issue kept him out of the opening game at Espanyol.
The competition for places is strong. Carlos Espi has scored two stoppage-time goals for Real Madrid, against Espanyol and Elche.
Kylian Mbappe injured his left knee on France duty and has reportedly avoided surgery.
Mourinho is weighing Jude Bellingham as a false nine in his absence. Real Madrid return to La Liga action against Villarreal on 10 October.
Romano urged caution over Endrick’s future. He said October, November and December will show how much the forward plays and what he decides with Real Madrid.
“But when we talk about Endrick, let’s see what’s going to happen. I keep saying that October, November and December are three months of football ahead.”
