Erling Haaland injury news, latest update

-----------------------------------------

Haaland started up front for Norway on Sunday away at Portugal in their 2-1 defeat in the UEFA Nations League.

Norway beat Denmark 3-2 to open this intense international break but then lost three in a row as Haaland failed to score in the last two games and has been running on empty.

In the 67th minute in Porto he had to come off and was seen hobbling, as he signaled to the bench that he couldn’t continue and Jorgen Strand Larsen came on in his place.

Speaking after the game Norway head coach Stale Solbakken didn’t give a specific update on Haaland’s injury, as he said Haaland was going away on vacation for a few days after being given some days off by his club.

Solbakken did focus on the intense amount of games Haaland has played and admitted the superstar striker was tired against Wales and only available to play 45-60 minutes against Portugal, and he’d spoken to Haaland about fatigue and managing his minutes.

If Haaland isn’t fit to start for City at Liverpool on Sunday, the options are pretty limited in terms of who can play centrally.

Basically either Antoine Semenyo can play out of position up there, or Phil Foden or Rayan Cherki could be used as a false nine. That is it. Starting academy forward Floyd Samba, just 17, would be a big ask.
