The Kansas City Chiefs may be 4-0, but their suddenly depleted wide receiver room has reignited one of the NFL’s biggest reunion storylines. After Tyquan Thornton suffered a dislocated ankle and Rashee Rice tweaked his hamstring during Kansas City’s dramatic Week 4 victory, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport addressed whether the injuries could push the Chiefs toward bringing Tyreek Hill back to Arrowhead.
From @GMFB: #Chiefs WR Tyquan Thornton is out indefinitely with a dislocated ankle, while WR Rashee Rice tweaked his hamstring and will use the bye to recover. But what does it mean about a Tyreek Hill reunion? pic.twitter.com/a5IUP735Br

Rapoport noted on Good Morning Football that Thornton is out indefinitely. Meanwhile, Rice can use Kansas City’s Week 5 bye to recover. Thornton had just erupted for 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns against Las Vegas before suffering the injury. This has left Xavier Worthy as the team’s primary perimeter speed threat. The sudden shortage naturally makes Hill an even more intriguing option.
However, Rapoport’s bottom line is clear: Kansas City remains an obvious potential destination. That said, Hill’s health will determine whether anything happens. The veteran receiver is targeting a November return while continuing his rehabilitation. This means the Chiefs cannot simply accelerate the timeline because of their current injury situation.
Hill has of course, already established a legendary Kansas City legacy. Selected in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the explosive “Cheetah” became one of the league’s premier deep threats. He has earned multiple All-Pro honors and helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIV. After his 2022 trade to Miami, Hill continued dominating. He produced consecutive 1,700-plus-yard seasons and cemented his status as one of football’s most dangerous offensive weapons.
For now, Kansas City will lean on Worthy, Jalen Royals, and Travis Kelce. However, if Hill gets medically cleared, the Chiefs could have a fascinating decision waiting for them.
