Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens
George Pickens Brushes Off Houston Physicality Talk After Drawing 2 Flags in Texans’ Red Zone 1
George Pickens spent much of Sunday operating on the edges of the Cowboys’ comeback. He was not the center of the passing game, but his limited opportunities helped Dallas turn a difficult afternoon against Houston into a 34-30 victory.
The Texans controlled the first half with a defensive front that disrupted Dak Prescott and kept Dallas out of the end zone. After halftime, the Cowboys found answers, scoring touchdowns on four of five possessions while Pickens supplied two catches for 75 yards and drew two critical flags against Kamari Lassiter inside the red zone.
George Pickens Credits the Group That Disrupted Dallas
That context made George Pickens’ postgame response even more revealing than the question itself. When asked if Houston’s defensive backs were more physical than what Dallas had faced before, Pickens completely rejected the idea.
“Na I wouldn’t say that actually,” he said before shifting attention to the defensive line and adding that Houston “definitely got a good front.”

His answer matched the game better than a simple discussion about aggressive coverage. Will Anderson Jr. created problems from several alignments, and Houston’s pressure contributed to Dallas managing only two field goals before halftime. Pickens had no catches on one first-half target before breaking loose for 53 yards in the third quarter.

Pickens also appeared to mention D.J. Reader while listing Houston defenders. Reader began his career with the Texans but is now with the New York Giants, so the reference was inaccurate.
The broader point still stood. Anderson and Houston’s front dictated the early terms, even though Dallas eventually reduced their influence.
Cowboys Still Have a Problem To Solve
The Cowboys bounced back in the second half, showing how tough it is to cover both George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb. Houston shut Pickens out early, but focusing on the outside receivers left gaps as the Dallas offense found its rhythm. Lamb finished with 17 catches for 189 yards, while Pickens hit them with big plays when his chances came.

The concern is that Dallas needed halftime to relieve the pressure. Future opponents will study how Anderson moved across the formation and how Houston delayed Prescott’s reads. Better protection plans and quicker answers will matter against elite fronts, especially when defenses try to limit Pickens deep and crowd Lamb underneath.
That issue becomes more serious late in the season, when one stalled half can decide playoff position or end a postseason run.
Pickens did not give Houston’s secondary the compliment the question invited. Instead, he pointed toward the group that nearly decided the game.
Dallas escaped because its receivers eventually changed the matchup, but his answer carried a warning. The Cowboys cannot afford to wait two quarters before matching the force of a championship-level defensive front.
