Buffalo Bills wide receiver D.J. Moore faces more uncertainty after aggravating a shoulder injury. The setback is not believed to be serious, but it remains unclear when he will be ready to play.
Some fans have suggested resting Moore until after Buffalo’s Week 7 bye. Giving their top receiver more recovery time could keep him healthy for the second half of the season, but the offense may need to adjust without him in the meantime.
Buffalo Bills monitor D.J. Moore shoulder injury following Patriots loss
Buffalo fell to 3-1 on the season after a 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, the Bills’ first defeat of the year. Moore exited with 1:48 left in the second quarter after landing hard on his left shoulder, the same shoulder that had limited his practice reps throughout the week.
“Bills WR D.J. Moore aggravated his shoulder injury during today’s loss to the Patriots, per a source. It is not considered ‘a long term issue as of right now,'” Adam Schefter reported.

Bills wide receiver DJ Moore celebrates races away from Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. for yards after the catch during their game Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.
This is the second time this season Moore has dealt with the same shoulder. He first suffered an AC joint sprain diving for a pass against the Detroit Lions in Week 2, an injury doctors did not consider serious at the time, before returning the following week against the Chargers.
Moore played through the injury in Week 3, catching six passes for 67 yards in Buffalo’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers, before Sunday’s hit reopened the same shoulder. He finished with just one catch for 11 yards and one carry for six yards before exiting, well below his typical workload. Head coach Joe Brady did not provide an update on Moore’s status when he addressed reporters after the loss.
D.J. Moore shoulder setback heightens offensive concerns before Week 7 bye
That shoulder had been a recurring storyline for weeks. Managing that same setback required careful practice limitation earlier in the month, though the injury clearly lingered despite his initial quick return.
Sunday’s re-aggravation means that the short turnaround did not hold up under game speed. The Bills had already leaned on rookie Skyler Bell during Moore’s first absence, and that depth plan is back in play now that the same shoulder has flared up again.
Some fans have floated resting Moore until Buffalo’s Week 7 bye to let the shoulder fully heal, though the team has not confirmed any such plan. The more immediate question is whether Moore will be ready for Buffalo’s Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.
