Kansas City Chiefs, Tyreek Hill
ESPN's Stephen A. Smith has wild prediction if Chiefs bring back Tyreek Hill 1

Stephen A. Smith put his name on the Tyreek Hill conversation on Monday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take, a day after the Chiefs were reported to have reached out about bringing the receiver back to Kansas City.
Kansas City beat the Raiders 30-27 in Las Vegas on Sunday to move to 4-0, and lost two receivers doing it. Tyquan Thornton dislocated his left ankle and is considered out indefinitely, and Rashee Rice left in the first quarter with a right hamstring injury. “It sucks that he hurt his ankle on that play, but it was a big play for us,” Patrick Mahomes said of Thornton.
A team source told ESPN the Chiefs have “remained in contact” with Hill and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Hill has been a free agent since Miami released him in February and has been unsigned all season. He posted “hm” on X after Thornton went down.

Smith skipped past the question of a signing and went straight to February: “If the Kansas City Chiefs get Tyreek Hill, … I am guaranteeing you that the [Chiefs] are going to win the Super Bowl.”
Hill has not played since Week 4 of last season, when he dislocated his left knee and tore multiple ligaments, including his ACL, against the Jets. He was carted off the field that night and turned 32 in March.

Rosenhaus said on The Pat McAfee Show in August, “I don’t expect Tyreek to sign before the season,” and that held. Hill is now targeting a return in November. In a rehab video in July, Hill said his timeline was “looking real good right now,” and he also shared how bad the early outlook had been: “Doctors said I may never walk again. But it’s one day at a time.”

A November return would give the Chiefs roughly two months of regular-season games to learn what Hill has left before the playoffs. His game was built on speed, which is the part of his profile a knee dislocation at 32 puts most in question. Hill’s own assessment in July and Smith’s in October describe two different players.
Would the Chiefs get anything in a Tyreek Hill reunion?
Hill would be rejoining Andy Reid and Mahomes, the coach and quarterback he won a Super Bowl with. Kansas City’s interest also predates Sunday, since the Chiefs looked into trading for him last season before he got hurt. Multiple Chiefs players, Mahomes among them, told The Athletic’s Mike Silver they would welcome him back. “That’s out of my hands, but I know I’d love to have the cheetah back in the building,” Travis Kelce said.

Smith’s own history with Hill is less warm. When Hill suggested during his Dolphins tenure that Smith did not watch the games, Smith responded on First Take: “To accuse me of not watching the games, Tyreek Hill, please watch your mouth.” After Hill’s sideline frustration during a 33-8 Week 1 loss to the Colts last season, Smith put the blame on Hill. Monday’s guarantee puts a title on the same player’s shoulders.

He also seemingly walked back his take that Tua only throws two yard passes and Tyreek takes them 50 yards, saying that wasn’t what he meant.
“Everything that is said isn’t meant to be taken literally, of course I wasn’t trying to imply that Tua can’t throw the damn football. I certainly wasn’t implying that he wasn’t an MVP candidate. To say I don’t watch the games… Tyreek Hill, please watch your mouth.”

Kansas City got to 4-0 without Hill. With Rice and Thornton both hurt, Smith’s guarantee hangs a championship on a receiver whose knee has not taken an NFL hit in more than a year.
“That doesn’t look good,” Reid said of Thornton’s ankle. Thornton was scheduled for a full evaluation Monday, along with a second opinion.
