Tottenham and Liverpool have set their sights on a Brentford star, who has had an excellent start to the new season, but the Lilywhites face plenty of competition for the player.

Spurs chose against replacing Djed Spence with another right-back in the summer after selling the England international to Inter Milan.

Roberto De Zerbi decided that he will use Archie Gray as cover for Pedro Porro at right-back, and the jury is still out on whether the 20-year-old is a good fit for that position, with his one-v-one defending, in particular, raising concerns among Tottenham fans.

Tottenham battling Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal for Michael Kayode

CaughtOffside say that Michael Kayode is emerging as one of the most closely watched defenders ahead of the January window after making a fine start to the season.

The Bees star has impressed for Italy in the Nations League over the last couple of weeks, and his displays have alerted Spurs, who are looking to add some athleticism to their backline.

The Lilywhites could face major competition for the 22-year-old, with Newcastle and Arsenal also keeping an eye on the Brentford star.

However, the ones to watch could be Liverpool, who have the Italy international at ‘the top of their wish list’ as they go in search of a new right-back.

Brentford taking hardline stance on Kayode

The interest in Kayode is not restricted to the Premier League, with Juventus and other Serie A clubs also tracking his progress in the hopes of bringing him back to Italy.

As things stand, no official bid has been submitted to Brentford for the full-back, nor have any negotiations been held, with the interest of the suitors not going beyond the monitoring stage.

The West London club view Kayode as a key starter and have made it clear that they have no intention of selling him mid-season. Brentford are expected to demand at least €60‑65M (£51m-£55m) for any serious talks.
