The Baltimore Ravens saw quarterback Lamar Jackson exit the Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans early with an ankle injury.

The injury occurred in the first half and Jackson emerged from the locker room in the second half but never re-entered the game.

On Monday, head coach Jesse Minter addressed the injury and said he isn’t sure what Jackson’s chances are of suiting up in Week 5.

“I don’t know the chances yet,” Minter said, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

The more troubling part was Minter throwing in the fact that he doesn’t think the injury is “going to be crazy long-term.”

That seems to suggest that Jackson is in danger of missing at least some time.

Earlier in the day, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Jackson was considered day-to-day, but he also mentioned that tests have to be done to know for sure, which leaves the door open for the injury to be worse than that.

“Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will have tests today, but the initial thought is day-to-day with his ankle,” Rapoport reported.

The Ravens will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday, so we’ll have a better idea of where things stand then.

But we’ll also be on the lookout for any reports before then that offer an update on the severity of Jackson’s injury. Perhaps we’ll get that as soon as Monday.

Who’s the next man up?

If Jackson can’t go against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley will take the reins of the offense until he gets back.

Huntley is an experienced backup with 31 career games (16 starts) under his belt. He filled in for Jackson as a starter in two games last season and won both contests.

In Week 4, Huntley completed 8-of-9 passes for 63 scoreless yards in relief of Jackson and while he didn’t score, the Ravens were able to hold off Tennessee for the win.

It goes without saying, though, that the Ravens’ offense will be significantly downgraded if Huntley is forced to start in place of Jackson.
