Rams named potential landing spot for disgruntled ex-Giants star WR image
The Los Angeles Rams appeared headed toward another early-season loss after a lackluster start to their Sunday afternoon clash vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 2021 Super Bowl champions’ offense was all out of whack in the first half, as Matthew Stafford threw two interceptions and mustered only 10 points (a 20-10 deficit).
After developing a second-half rhythm with star receiver Puka Nacua, though, Matthew Stafford flipped the script during the final 30 minutes of the contest and received much-needed assistance from their defense en route to a come-from-behind 24-20 victory.
Although Los Angeles’ receiving room (headlined by Nacua and Davonte Adams) is undoubtedly formidable, Bleacher Report’s Mike Chiari believes a reunion with a disgruntled ex-New York Giants star WR (first stint) could further bolster the unit.
“The Rams present perhaps the most natural fit for (Odell) Beckham since he already has experience with the organization,” Chiari wrote last Tuesday. “L.A. acquired Beckham in a trade with the Cleveland Browns during the 2021 season, and he went on to play a huge role for the team down the stretch and in the playoffs.”
“Beckham had 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight regular-season games with the Rams, and 21 grabs for 288 yards and two touchdowns in four postseason contests.”
“That included two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals. Beckham left that game with a torn ACL, but the Rams still went on to win the Super Bowl. The Rams could use some depth at the position, and Beckham's familiarity with McVay and his offensive system could potentially make him an option.”
While Beckham began the 2026-27 campaign with the Giants, the storied NFC East organization released him after its Week 3 win vs. the Tennessee Titans.
Beckham didn’t take kindly to New York’s late-September roster decision, saying it gave him the ‘run along’ while he could've been making a noticeable impact elsewhere.
The former first-round pick only received one target in three games with the Giants and failed to maximize it before being sent packing. It’s no secret that Beckham is a shell of his former self at this stage of his career, as his route running and separation ability aren’t at the elite level they were at his peak with the Giants (he earned three Pro Bowl nods and two second-team All-Pro selections in his prime).
That said, bringing the flashy WR back for another stint would be more of a depth-bolstering move than a game-changing free-agent signing, which helps explain why it could make sense for both sides if there’s mutual interest.
