LAS VEGAS (FOX5) —Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said Monday his team is disappointed but focused on corrections following its first loss of the season to the Kansas City Chiefs.

“We just got done meeting with them. They’re disappointed,” Kubiak said. “They’re a very mature group that wants to win. We’re fixing the corrections... telling each other the truth.”

Kubiak put the offensive struggles, particularly the run game dip since Week 1, on himself.

“I put it on myself. I got to put our guys in better position,” Kubiak said. “Scheme them up better.”

On honesty in the building, Kubiak said it starts with the tape:

“Here’s what we got right. Here’s what we got wrong. Here’s where we were not correct as coaches... Here’s where we didn’t make the play as a player,” he said. “If we can just put it in front of those guys and everyone sees it, and as a team we can learn from it and get better, then we’re going in the right direction.”

Injury updates:

With receivers Jack Bech and Naylor out, Kubiak said Malik Benson and Dante Thornton will get opportunities. “That’s why they’re Raiders. We expect them to play.”

Thornton’s practice status for this week is still in discussions.

Kubiak said the team is considering adding to the receiver room.

Kubiak praised WR Cody White as “a pro,” saying “winning matters to him... being a great teammate matters to him,” and praised LB N’Kobe Dean’s maturity and production.

On QB Kirk’s performance, Kubiak said he “played excellent, gave us a chance to win the game.”

Kubiak took responsibility for two special teams decisions — kicking through the end zone after going up 19-17 and a fake punt call on the Chiefs’ first drive.

“That was mine and Joe’s decision. Didn’t work out,” he said of the kickoff. On the fake punt: “It’s a play that we want back... it was a poor call.”

Defensively, Kubiak credited Kansas City for explosive runs and targeting the edge, saying setting edges, leverage and coverage details must improve. He also said second-year starter Zeke didn’t have his best game but is expected to rebound.

“We learn more about your team... you learn more about yourself as a coach,” Kubiak said.
