After four games, Cam Ward has completed 75 of 119 passes for 726 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the NFL; however, Ward’s numbers are not the problem; the record is.

The Tennessee Titans are 0-4 after a 24-18 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, giving more room to fans’ apprehension about Ward’s outing. However, the Titans’ head coach, Robert Saleh, would not have any of that.

Ward’s improvement is very much visible. This year, his 46.8 QBR is already 10+ points higher than it was in his rookie season. The results, though, are yet to flow suitably.

“We have the utmost confidence in Cam. … The kid’s gonna be a damn good QB. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath and let him grow.

If you can’t objectively watch the tape and look at him from Week 1 last year to Week 1 this year to Week 4 yesterday and not see improvement, then you’re just being biased to your own opinion.”

The Titans failed to convert their chances against the Ravens during their last game. Two first-half turnovers also reduced the team’s chances of winning, as they failed to make a significant impact on a first-and-goal opportunity. The loss has raised questions about Ward’s development, including a few that Saleh believes have crossed the line.

Ward’s 2026 season began with a rough outing against the New York Jets, which saw him complete 19 of 32 passes for 140 yards and a TD in a 23-10 defeat. He also suffered another major moment the following week against the Giants, when a late interception in the end zone helped seal a 12-7 defeat.

After the game, the head coach himself admitted that Ward could perform better with the football. Ward himself admitted that he needed to improve in critical situations. Still, Saleh insists that no one should place the Titans’ offensive struggles on a lack of trust in their QB.

Saleh’s defense comes in immediately after the QB had an off-field moment at the presser. Following the loss, Ward arrived at the podium earlier than scheduled. His early arrival meant the media members were still speaking to other players. Shortly afterward, Ward was caught on camera saying that he would leave soon if the room remained empty within 3 minutes. The reporters eventually arrived, and the press conference proceeded as usual.

As for what the reporters needed from Ward during the presser, the Titans are betting on patience, and Saleh seems unfazed by the stakes yet. Whether or not that role includes calling out Ward’s critics in person, Saleh would rather grow the team to become more productive in their subsequent games, beginning with their next show against the Houston Texans.
