Liverpool is looking ahead to the coming January transfer window and beyond, with the Reds assessing options that could improve several key areas.
It follows two years of consistently large spending, which has brought about the signings of some high-profile names. However, it has also left some important gaps in the team that need to be addressed.
Taking those challenges head on will be the job of returning sporting director Julian Ward, as he assesses the options at his disposal for the next few months and the long-term future beyond that.
So, with that said, here's a look at the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumors ahead of another important day of action.
Michael Kayode (Brentford)

Liverpool has been linked with a few right-back options in recent days, with the latest name being Brentford and Italy star Michael Kayode.
CaughtOffside reports that the defender is a "top" target for the Reds, should they address any long-term concerns at full-back in the coming transfer windows.
Kayode, 22, has impressed for the Bees since making the switch to the Premier League, with his ability at both ends of the pitch catching the eye, while he also has a deadly long-throw in his armory.
Liverpool isn't the only team linked, as Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United are all claimed to be in the mix as well.
Liverpool.com says: Right-back is a position that Liverpool clearly needs to address moving forward, whether that is through internal solutions or with a transfer into the club.
Kayode has Premier League experience, plenty of quality, and an age profile that would suggest he could improve even further in the coming seasons.
It's unclear whether a deal would be attainable, however, with a long-term contract and Brentford well-known for its ability to negotiate transfers.
Alex Scott (Bournemouth)

A midfielder who continues to be linked with a switch to Anfield is Alex Scott, with the Bournemouth star continually being rumored to be of interest to Liverpool.
Considering his previous work under Andoni Iraola, it's no surprise that such transfer rumors have emerged, while his dwindling contract with the Cherries could entice a deal sooner rather than later.
While there has been some uncertainty surrounding Bournemouth's stance on a sale, TeamTalk reports that the south-coast club is eyeing Wolves ace Fer Lopez as a possible replacement.
A deal there could create a pathway for Scott to become available, though Liverpool may need to fight off several other teams to his signature.
Liverpool.com says: Liverpool clearly needs to find some balance in the midfield, and moving to sign Scott would solve some of those concerns.
The Bournemouth ace ticks plenty of boxes, having played under the manager before and understanding his tactical setup, while he still has plenty of room to grow further in his technical ability.
The main concern may be about a potential price tag, even with his contract coming close to an end, while Liverpool may have other areas to focus on in the squad.
