The Finnish side HJK Helsinki has confirmed that Liverpool defender Amara Nallo's loan spell in Scandinavia has been cut short because of injury.

‌

Nallo moved to Finland in July to gain some more senior experience and the 19-year-old center-back featured in two league fixtures in August, as well as an away game against Motherwell in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.

However, an injury then kept Nallo sidelined for the entire month of September. It has now been concluded that he will be unable to recover before the end of the Finnish season and he has therefore returned to Merseyside to recover.

Nallo has already made the trip back to Liverpool to rehabilitate what is described as a "lower limb injury".

He joined Liverpool from West Ham United in 2023. Nallo has made three appearances for the Reds at senior level to date, and has been sent off in two of those.

Last season, Nallo captained Liverpool in the UEFA Youth League and the EFL Trophy. He was named on the first-team bench several times under Arne Slot.

"When I came to the Academy, the players were very welcoming," he said earlier in the summer. "The staff as well were willing to help and entrusted me and my development, which was really important.

"Obviously there was no doubt in me signing because my family are Liverpool supporters as well. It just all came to plan.

"In the first season, I was homesick. But then I got to know that I'm here for a reason and I'm working, so I need to make them proud.

"In the second season, I'm very focused and determined and looking forward to what's to come."

Nallo is aiming to secure a regular first-team spot at Liverpool and it was hoped that this loan would allow him to play regularly. However, it didn't go to plan.

"[I just want to] be a regular with the first team and see what we get from there and how far I can push on from there," Nallo, speaking to the Reds' official website, continued.

"A clean sheet for me is like scoring. It's a very good achievement. I've always been a center-half, even when I was playing district for my local borough. I just feel like defending is my game. I just like defending."
