Chiefs Star Pledges His Own Money To Save Mississippi State QB From Transfer
Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce Make Feelings Known as Chiefs Eye Tyreek Hill Amid Injuries 1
Tyreek Hill has not played in the 2026 NFL season yet, and is still without a franchise. He was released by the Miami Dolphins in the offseason, and has also faced an injury crisis that he has not yet recovered from fully. This complicated his playing situation with no team willing to take him.
However, his situation has now turned around, and he is now likely to sign for a new team. One team in particular is strongly linked, with the players of that team also speaking about Hill.
Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce speak on Tyreek Hill
The Kansas City Chiefs are the team that are most actively pursuing Hill. This comes as they face a worsening injury crisis, with wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton sustaining injuries. This has created a severe depletion at the wide receiver position. Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus has already said that he is planning to negotiate a deal with multiple teams immediately. He said, “I would anticipate Tyreek potentially signing with a team over the next few days.”

According to The Athletic’s Michael Silver, the Chiefs had already reached out to Rosenhaus prior to those injuries, and are “very interested” in a reunion. With his move to the Chiefs becoming more possible, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce have addressed it.
Mahomes said, “I have no idea (if that would happen), but it’d be pretty cool.” While Kelce said, “That’s out of my hands, but I know I’d love to have ‘The Cheetah’ back in this building. He’s a brother. He’s one of those people who, when he sets his mind to something, he usually delivers. You saw that with Miami, when all the haters were saying he couldn’t play and he went and had his best year. I’d be excited by what he could do (here).”
Aside from these two, defensive tackle Chris Jones also added his wish to see Hill join them, “I hope we do.” The wide receiver now is working towards his recovery.
Tyreek Hill’s current situation ahead of Chiefs’ potential move
Hill previously spent six seasons with the Chiefs from 2016 to 2021, recording 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdowns while winning a Super Bowl. The team later traded him to Miami in March 2022, where he was released last offseason.
The wide receiver suffered a dislocated left knee with multiple torn ligaments, including an ACL, in Week 4 of 2025. He is targeting a November return and has posted workout videos demonstrating speed and footwork. Kansas City has just over $3 million in salary-cap space available, and is expected to be given a one-year, incentive-laden deal.
Tyreek Hill will work on himself and hope for a move to the Chiefs to happen.
