**Ex-Arsenal defender Emmmaneul Eboue says his former club are strong favourites to secure back-to-back Premier League titles.**

While he doesn’t believe it is a foregone conclusion that the Gunners will finish top of the table, he is confident that Mikel Arteta’s side will retain their crown:

“Arsenal are my team. This season is going to be very tough because there are so many good teams and good players. But if Arsenal play the way they have been playing, I believe they can win the league. I would give them maybe a 75 per cent chance…”

Asked who could be the club’s main challengers for top spot, Eboue went with a surprising choice:

“Chelsea are a team Arsenal need to be careful of because they have a lot of very good players. The Premier League is going to be very tough, but I believe in what Arteta is doing, and I believe in Arsenal.”

Who are the favourites to win the Premier League?

-------------------------------------------------

The statisticians at Opta have made Arteta’s men the leading contenders, giving them a 43.94% chance of clinching 1st place.

Manchester City have won all 5 of their games, and Enzo Maresca’s side are currently second among the other runners and riders at 39.54%.

Eboue’s tip, Chelsea, are not deemed to be realistic challengers, with Opta saying there is only a 1.12% chance of the Blues ending the season top of the table.

Arsenal will want to bounce back with a win

-------------------------------------------

The heavy defeat to Brighton has raised a few doubts about the club’s ability to retain the title, but the [**international break**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-news-players-called-up-for-international-duty-leeds/) probably came at just the right time.

With a three-week break between games, it should give Arteta and his team the time they need to reset, with the opportunity to get back to winning ways against Leeds at the Emirates this weekend.
