Arsenal have been handed a fresh boost to their hopes of signing Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez. The Gunners were heavily linked with signing the Argentina international in the summer as they looked to strengthen their forward options.
Alvarez’s future at Atletico was plunged into uncertainty in the summer when Barcelona made a push to sign the versatile forward.
Alvarez expressed a desire to move to Barca, but Atletico did not sanction an exit, which led to Arsenal exploring the possibility of bringing the 26-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.
It now remains to be seen what the future holds for Alvarez, but a fresh update from Atletico could hand Arsenal a boost that a deal could get done in the near future.
The Telegraph have reported that Atletico have expressed an interest in signing Arsenal forward Noni Madueke, and are also joined by Serie A giants Juventus.
It has been claimed that Madueke’s lack of starts for Arsenal this season has led to clubs from across Europe expressing an interest in the England international.
Madueke has featured five times for the Gunners this term, but only twice in the Premier League and has only been on the pitch for 23 minutes in the top flight.
As a result, Atletico are reported to have shown an interest in signing Madueke, which could give Arsenal a boost to their hopes of securing Alvarez’s signature.

Whilst not being mentioned directly in the report, Atletico’s interest in Madueke could give Arsenal the chance to explore a potential swap deal or cash-plus-player transfer for Alvarez when the January window opens.
Madueke only signed for Arsenal last year, arriving in a £48.5million deal from Chelsea and went on to help the Gunners win the Premier League title, scoring eight goals across 43 appearances in all competitions.
The Arsenal star was part of the England squad for the World Cup in the summer, but a lack of minutes for the Gunners this term has led to him not being selected by Thomas Tuchel for the Nations League fixtures during the current international break.
