Ezri Konsa has been sent home from the England camp ahead of their final match in this international window, creating another injury concern for Arsenal.
Kai Havertz and Christos Tzolis have already returned to the Emirates from their respective national team camps. Arsenal has therefore faced its biggest fear during the break, with several players suffering fitness problems while representing their countries.
The Gunners regularly worry about injuries to important players during international windows. Havertz was the first Arsenal player to suffer a problem this time, being sent home after pulling up within minutes of his first match for Germany.
Tzolis, who had been in excellent form, later returned to the club after experiencing an issue. There were also concerns about Martin Odegaard, while Konsa has now been released by England.
Konsa suffers another setback
Thomas Tuchel explained why England decided not to risk the defender in their final match. Speaking via Hayters, he said:
“Ezri felt discomfort when he came into camp, played with it against Spain and it got a bit worse so he stayed in camp and tried everything for the match against Czechia and it came too soon.
“He tried everything for the game in Croatia, got the green light and came through all the training sessions so was ready to play.
“Unfortunately, he got another hit on the quad and that caused a light trauma and we decided not to let him play through this pain.
“So he left camp to get treatment for both his issues now. I think nothing major but not worth the risk taking.”

Arsenal waits for update
Konsa had already been managing discomfort when he joined the England squad and played through the problem against Spain. He then missed the match against Czechia before returning to the team for the fixture against Croatia.
The fresh blow to his quad has now led England to take a cautious approach. Arsenal will hope that the injury is minor and that Konsa can return to training quickly.
The defender is an important player for both Arsenal and England, so the Gunners will not want to lose him for an extended period. He will now receive treatment at club level while the medical staff assess his condition.
Arsenal supporters will be hoping that Tuchel’s assessment proves accurate and that Konsa’s issue does not develop into a serious injury.
