The international break is winding down, and all eyes will soon be fixed on the Premier League once again, with Liverpool kickstarting the next batch of fixtures with a highly anticipated matchup against Manchester City.
The three-week break hasn't exactly been kind to Andoni Iraola and his side, as three new injury doubts have emerged over the intervening spell, leaving the Reds sweating over the fitness of some key players.
Elsewhere, there is hope that a few long-term absentees may be able to return in the coming weeks, giving the manager some extra options to choose from, in a month that has nine fixtures ahead.
So, with that said, here's a look at the latest Liverpool injury news and possible return dates ahead of another busy day of action.
Jeremy Jacquet

The 21-year-old featured twice during the international break for the senior team, his first caps for the side, and impressed with the way he performed.
However, his absence in the fourth match of the break for Les Bleus was due to a strain to his left hamstring, which now makes him a doubt for the Reds' clash with Manchester City on Sunday.
Jacquet is now set to return to Merseyside for further assessments to understand the extent of his injury, though Zinedine Zidane later described it as only a "slight" concern, suggesting that he could be fit and firing if needed.
Possible return date: Manchester City (H) — October 11.
Cody Gakpo

Liverpool is also sweating over the fitness of Cody Gakpo, after the forward was forced to withdraw from the Netherlands squad during the break.
The winger landed awkwardly on his ankle just minutes into his national team's meeting with Serbia, looking in some discomfort when he signaled to come off.
While scans have since taken place to learn the extent of the injury, Gakpo could be facing weeks on the sidelines, with Iraola set to give an update before the match with Manchester City.
Possible return date: Late October 2026.
Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak is the third star to have picked up an issue while on international duty, after he withdrew from the Sweden squad after the first match of the break.
The striker played through the 90 minutes against Romania on the night, but it was later revealed that he had a minor thigh injury, which stopped him from featuring for the rest of the international break.
With the problem being described as minor, the forward could make a return against Man City, though it depends on the extent of the injury.
Possible return date: Manchester City (H) — October 11.
Federico Chiesa

After picking up a lower back injury in preseason, Federico Chiesa has yet to feature this campaign, having spent the first few weeks recovering.
Iraola previously stated that the Italian international was expected to return to full training during the international break, which could put him in line for a place in the squad to face Manchester City at the weekend.
Possible return date: Manchester City (H) — October 11.
Giovanni Leoni

It's been a long and winding road to recovery for Giovanni Leoni, but the defender could finally make his return to action for Liverpool in the next week.
Like Chiesa, Iraola claimed that the center-back was set for a return to training during the international break, having been on the sidelines for over a year with a knee problem.
Given the severity of the issue, it's unclear whether Liverpool will want to throw Leoni straight back into action, but he could feature in the matchday squad to take on Man City if he is available.
Possible return date: Manchester City (H) — October 11.
Conor Bradley

Moving on to some more long-term absentees, Conor Bradley is still unavailable after his own knee injury, which will leave him out of action for a little while longer.
There is some hope that the 23-year-old will return next month at some point, while a place in the team is expected before the turn of the New Year, though that is barring any setbacks in the final stages.
Possible return date: November 2026.
Hugo Ekitike

Hugo Ekitike's relatively positive first campaign with Liverpool took a serious hit when he picked up an Achilles injury late in the season against PSG.
While there have been several months since that concern first arose, the striker is still facing a few months on the sidelines, though there is hope that a December return could be on the cards.
Possible return date: December 2026.
