The latest NFL MVP rankings finally have a major shakeup at the top after Week 4 saw Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills lose to an AFC East rival.
The Bills superstar still remains firmly in the MVP mix, but several players are staking their claims as well. Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes are both playing for undefeated teams after early-season success with the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.
Meanwhile, running backs are having epic years as well, including Atlanta Falcons sensation Bijan Robinson. The Falcons star is dominating primetime games recently with over 330 yards while finding the end zone on four occasions in Weeks 3 and 4.
Here are the latest MVP rankings as the league shifts to Week 5.

The Bengals’ current injury troubles are deeply concerning, but Burrow’s still doing his part. The former LSU star is completing over 71 percent of his passes and has thrown for 1,100-plus years through Week 4.
9. Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Lawrence hasn’t been flashy, but the Jaguars are 3-1 and the Jacksonville QB is making enough plays to put the AFC South team into the Super Bowl conversation.

Carolina fans have been waiting for this version of Young for years. Young’s leading the NFL in passing yards and his connection with Tetairoa McMillan is one of the best QB-WR partnerships at the moment.
7. Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)

The Ravens have used Derrick Henry to close a lot of drives, but Jackson is the secret sauce to the offense. Baltimore’s QB1 has a 70.8 completion percentage and he’s recorded seven total touchdowns. The team is hoping his ankle injury isn’t too severe, but the Ravens will see what Jackson’s value truly is if he misses games.
6. Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs)

It’s clear that Mahomes is back to his MVP-level self and the Chiefs are 4-0 thanks to the combination of their star QB and Kenneth Walker. Kansas City’s elite signal caller has thrown nine TDs to just two interceptions.

The Falcons RB is going nuclear with Michael Penix Jr. behind center and Atlanta looks like a legitimate juggernaut on offense. Robinson seemingly breaks a long touchdown every game, which has the league on notice.
4. Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seattle Seahawks)

JSN wasn’t needed as often in Seattle’s win over the winless Los Angeles Chargers. That doesn’t diminish his value though after hauling in six touchdowns through four games.
3. Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers)

Some skeptics still call Purdy a game manager, but if that’s the case he’s the best in the league at it. The 49ers QB has thrown 11 touchdown passes to just one interception this season. Kyle Shanahan’s team is a major threat in the NFC as long as Purdy continues his epic start.
2. Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills)

It’s not like the world is ending after the Bills lost their first game of the 2026 campaign. However, it’s clear Buffalo’s reliance on Allen could lead to problems down the road, just like it’s been in previous years.

Walker’s had three 100-plus yard games this season, but Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders was his best performance yet. The Chiefs rusher ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns to take down the previously undefeated Raiders.
