Liverpool are said to be keeping tabs on Brentford star Michael Kayode, as per latest transfer news. The Italian right-back has become a genuine priority target as the Reds plan ahead of the winter transfer window. This sets up a interesting battle for one of Premier League‘s most exciting young defenders.
Liverpool set sights on Michael Kayode
Liverpool have placed Michael Kayode firmly on their radar, as reported by TEAMtalk. They are closely tracking his progress throughout the current campaign. The club is said to be preparing a potential move in 2027, though nothing concrete has been agreed just yet.
Kayode began his career in the Juventus academy before moving through Gozzano. He eventually broke into the first team at Fiorentina, where he built a strong reputation in Serie A. Brentford moved quickly to sign him on loan in January 2025. The switch became permanent that summer.
Andoni Iraola’s side are not the only Premier League side in this pursuit either. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with interest. Although the Merseyside club is said to be leading the race at this stage. The Bees have shown no urgency to sell, and they have built a habit of holding firm on valuations for their prized stars.
Kayode’s 2026/2027 stats at Brentford so far, as per FOTMOB:
Competitions Appearances Duels Won(%) Defensive Contributions Chances Created
Premier League 5 45% 16 2
EFL Cup 2 78% 9 2
Kayode on radar of top Premier League sides
Kayode’s rise has made himself one of the most dependable right-backs in England’s top-flight competition, combining defensive discipline with genuine attacking threat. He has made 37 Premier League appearances last season alone. He also racked up over 3,200 minutes while also contributing a goal and an assist during the previous campaign. His long throw has also become a weapon for Brentford, often catching opponents off guard inside the penalty area.
His defensive style is being compared to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s. In addition, Kayode offers more composure on the ball and a sharper attacking instinct. He has two senior caps for Italy, and interest has not been limited to Premier League clubs. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and even Paris Saint-Germain are tracking his movements as well. This shows just how far his name has travelled across European football.

Brentford could lose two stars as Liverpool eye double deal
Liverpool’s interest may not stop with just one player. TEAMtalk’s report also suggests that the club is also exploring a move for forward Kevin Schade as well. The Reds’ new sporting director Julian Ward is likely plotting a January approach. Brentford have already opened talks over a new contract for Schade. This is in an attempt to ward off suitors and protect his long-term future at the club.
Losing both players in the same window would be a huge blow for the Bees. They have built their recent Premier League success around developing exactly this type of talent. For Liverpool, though, a potential double swoop would strengthen two key areas of the squad. Meanwhile, this move suggests the club will continue their trend of recruiting smartly from mid-table sides before prices climb even further out of reach.
