McVay addressed the incident directly during his Monday press conference. “We’ll learn from that,” McVay said. “We’ll be better. Those fans are really into it, but I know that we want to make sure that we’re representing the class and just the calm steadiness that we want to have while also being emotionally into it. And there’s ways that we can have that reflected.”
Video circulating online showed at least one assistant banging on the glass and gesturing at Eagles fans below, prompting Philadelphia supporters to throw cups and a water bottle at the window.
McVay also drew on his own background to explain the emotion behind the outburst. He recalled getting caught up in similar moments years earlier as an assistant calling plays from the booth in Washington, noting that excitement can get the better of even experienced coaches late in a close game.
McVay vows Rams sideline conduct won’t repeat going forward
The fourth-quarter comeback triggered emotional reactions that quickly spilled over into conflict with the crowd. As the situation inside the booth escalated, McVay stepped in to address his staff directly. “We did talk about it, and that won’t be an issue moving forward,” McVay said.
Monday’s comments made clear the coaching staff must maintain composure alongside results during future road trips. McVay said the organization values composure as much as results, even in the sport’s most heated moments.
Both teams moved to 2-2 following the result, with Rams hosting Buffalo next before heading back on the road on October 25.
