Shedeur Sanders trade talk heats up as Deshaun Watson leads Browns to wins

Shedeur Sanders trade talk heats up as Deshaun Watson leads Browns to wins image

What a difference a few weeks makes. Just a few weeks ago, Cleveland Browns fans were skeptical about quarterback Deshaun Watson's place as the team's leader, so much so that they booed him. To be booed by your own fans is just rough. Fast-forward to today, and Watson just led his team to a big win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Browns are now 3-1 and are at No. 1 in the AFC North. It's almost a dream come true for those cheering for the Browns.

So, where does this leave quarterback Shedeur Sanders? Of course, Sanders is the backup, but if he's not going to get field time, it's natural for speculation to stir up about a possible trade.

ESPN personality weighs in on Shedeur Sanders trade talk

Now the Week 4 games are in the books, it's time to look ahead. Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland talked about the Sanders trade buzz on Tuesday and pointed out that with all the talk, the key is that another team has to want and need Sanders.

"First of all, there has got to be a demand, and though there are teams that are a little short at quarterback, there seems like there is a lull right now," he stated on Tuesday. "Teams are waiting to see what they've got -- the Giants and Jameis Winston, how long can they continue with Winston?"

He adds, "But there doesn't seem to be something on the verge of happening around the league at that position let alone with Shedeur Sanders. I don't expect him to be traded."

So, Grossi's take is that Sanders isn't going anywhere for now. But, as quarterbacks get injured and things change, that could also evolve.
