The Atlanta Falcons ran away with a 45-24 win over the Saints on Monday night, but one remark from the broadcast may last longer than the score. Peyton Manning was on the ManningCast when a Saints fumble pushed him toward a sharper topic. His comment arrived hours after the league suspended two officials. Here is how a routine replay became a pointed message.
Peyton Manning calls out NFL refs on the ManningCast
Early in the first quarter, Saints running back Kendre Miller lost a fumble at his own 22-yard line. Eli Manning replayed the sequence and seemed unsure it was a turnover. Peyton had no doubt. He called it a fumble and added that officials might not rule it that way.
When Eli asked what he meant, Peyton linked the moment to Week 4’s loudest officiating story. Peyton Manning said, “We got refs telling players to eff off. Let’s just get the fumble right.”

The jab pointed to line judge Jeff Seeman. Broadcast footage appeared to show Seeman cursing at Cardinals tight end Trey McBride after a no-call during Sunday’s game against the Giants.

The NFL suspended Seeman for two games without pay. Referee Adrian Hill also received a one-game suspension for a separate incident involving Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio backed both punishments, arguing officials should meet an even higher standard than players.
Officials did eventually rule the play a fumble. Atlanta turned the turnover into a 14-0 lead on Bijan Robinson’s 4-yard touchdown run.
The night also delivered a lighter Manning moment that fans quickly passed around.
Steve Gleason jokes about Peyton Manning’s forehead
Saints hero Steve Gleason joined the ManningCast for the 20th anniversary of the Superdome’s reopening after Hurricane Katrina. Late in the third quarter, with Atlanta leading 31-10, Manning showed a clip of himself punting.
Gleason blocked a Falcons punt in the opening minutes of the 2006 homecoming game, so he had a quick reply. He joked that he would have hit Manning’s forehead long before he reached the ball.

The line spread fast online and gave the broadcast a looser feel after the officiating jab. It also showed why the alternate telecast keeps drawing attention, since Manning can move from sharp criticism to playful banter within minutes. With the Falcons firmly in control by then, the Mannings had plenty of room to talk.
Atlanta Falcons moved to 2-2 and host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night, Oct. 11, at 8:20 p.m. ET. New Orleans fell to 1-3 and welcomes the Minnesota Vikings at noon CT that day. Both teams will look for cleaner football.
