The Gunners forked out a huge fee of £64million to land the 28-year-old from Sporting CP last summer, but he has not had the desired impact since his move to the Emirates.

Kai Havertz is still seen as the first-choice striker when available, while there are concerns about whether the striker is the right fit for the way Arteta's team set up.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal could look to cut their losses on Gyokeres with his role in the side becoming increasingly uncertain.

The Sweden international has continued to thrive for his country, where he has become the first player to score in seven consecutive Nations League games, and clearly has quality.

However, his continued struggles at Arsenal have raised red flags, and his lack of regular playing time this season means he could be allowed to leave when the transfer window opens.

Why are Arsenal concerned about Viktor Gyokeres?

Brown first told Football Insider back in February that Arsenal have concerns about Gyokeres amid suggestions they could look to bring in a new striker to replace him.

Last season, the striker scored 21 goals in 55 appearances, but he has started just two games so far this term and has been pushed down the pecking order.

As a result, the Gunners could be prepared to listen to offers for Gyokeres in 2027, amid growing doubts about whether he has a long-term furure at the Emirates.

"I think it's clear that they have some serious doubts about Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal," Brown told Football Insider.

"They worked hard to bring him in from Sporting, where he was really impressive, but he's never quite seemed to get going at Arsenal and that's now becoming an issue.

"Arteta isn't trusting him to play from the start this season, Kai Havertz has been the first-choice striker, and that's a bad sign for somebody they spent a huge fee on last year.

"I just don't think he fits in with Arteta's style of play or what they're trying to do at Arsenal, he isn't a good match for their system and that's unlikely to change at this stage.

"He's clearly a talented striker, he shows that every international break with Sweden, but he can't translate those performances to Arsenal.

"From the club's point of view, it might be time to cut their losses and admit they got this one wrong, maybe see if they can get their money back and then move on.

"If offers come in for him, I'm sure Arsenal will be willing to listen, and I'm sure Gyokeres would be able to show his abilities at another club where the style suits him better."

Who is to blame for Gyokeres' struggles at Arsenal?

Gyokeres' struggled at Arsenal have been well-documented, but questions have been asked about who is to blame given his continued impressive displays for Sweden.

Football Insider reported on 16 September that Arteta's style of play is not the correct match for Gyokeres' talents, and has ultimately led to his struggles in red.

On paper, his Arsenal career has not been bad by any means as he ended the season as their top scorer and played a crucial role in winning the Premier League title.

However, after dropping out of the starting XI this term, his issues have been made clear, with fingers pointed at the recruitment team and Arteta for the failed move.

Gyokeres still has a role to play for Arsenal this season, but he must improve his performances, and if he cannot do so, he could be allowed to move on.
