The latest Premier League transfer news including updates on Newcastle, Arsenal, Liverpool and more
Fans of Premier League clubs may well be breathing a sigh of relief this morning, as the three-week international break is finally over. Players from England’s top tier not already in the country will be returning home swiftly, as they return their full focus to domestic matters. That might not be the best news for Man City players, however.

Enzo Maresca’s side will be looking to put matters off the field behind them and concentrate on the football, as they look to continue their perfect start to the 2026/27 campaign. Arsenal, the reigning champions, are currently three points behind the league leaders, and will be eager to chase them down quickly to avoid an unwanted gap forming at the table’s summit.
Today’s rumours round-up begins in Germany, who will be glad to see the back of the Nations League for now having won just one of their four matches during the international break under new boss Jurgen Klopp. According to Team Talk, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are in the hunt for a new deputy goalkeeper, and have taken a shine to Newcastle’s Nick Pope.
The report claims that once Manuel Neuer retires, Jonas Urbig will claim the number one spot, leaving his understudy role vacant. It’s said that Pope is one of at least five options being considered, along with Fulham’s Bernd Leno. Pope’s current contract expires in the summer, and he is no longer number one on Tyneside, with Lukas Hornicek replacing him.
The 3AM Verdict: We’re not too sure on this one. Under Vincent Kompany, Bayern always play out from the back, so having a goalkeeper who’s good with his feet is integral to how they play. Pope is a top shot-stopper, but blessed with the ball at his boots he is not - it’s a big reason why he never kicked on with England, and could cost him the Bayern spot too.
Arsenal look to seal final puzzle piece

Next up, it’s over to the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal will play the Premier League’s first post-international break fixture when they welcome Leeds United to London this Saturday lunchtime. The Gunners failed to sign a top quality left winger over the summer, and are now set to enter the market again as they look to complete their formidable looking squad.
Caught Offside say that the club are lining up a move for RB Leipzig gem Antonio Nusa, who impressed at the World Cup with Norway last summer. He’s said to be on the club’s radar for January, as they look to find a reasonably priced upgrade on their current options. Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz is named as another potential target, although his asking price is likely to prove to be a stumbling block.
The 3AM Verdict: Nusa does have bags of potential, but you could say the same about their current first-choice left winger Christos Tzolis. We don’t really see the point in bringing in a raw talent now to save a bit of money - we’d be holding back the funds until the end of the season, before trying to sign either Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez or Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi as a marquee summer deal.
Liverpool could bring Quansah back to Anfield

Our third story of the day takes us to Anfield, where Liverpool are on the hunt for a new right-back. According to Football Insider, the club have the option to re-sign £35m man Jarell Quansah from Bayer Leverkusen, which could prove tempting after seeing the player rejuvenate his career for both club and country.
It’s said that the Reds have a handy £60m back-buy clause they can trigger should they wish to, but said agreement does expire in mid-June next year. While Liverpool aren’t currently thought to be actively pursuing the move, they are said to be “tracking” the player, amid reported rival transfer interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal.
The 3AM Verdict: Jeremie Frimpong is clearly not good enough as a right-back for Liverpool, and Quansah would be a fine upgrade who can also play as a central defender. The big issue, surely, is financial - would the Reds really bring him back in a deal that would, in effect, mean they’ve just paid £25m to loan a player out for a season and a half? We can’t see it happening.
