**Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Monaco right-back Vanderson, according to reports in the Italian media.**
[_ASRomalive.it_](https://www.asromalive.it/2026/10/02/calciomercato-roma-un-altro-brasiliano-insidia-wesley-asrl/) claim that the Magpies are “following” the defender, but Arsenal and Manchester United are also keen.
Vanderson’s future could be tied to that of his fellow Brazilian, Wesley. The Roma fullback is attracting interest from the same clubs, but there are several obstacles in the way of him leaving the Stadio Olimpico.
The player has already turned down a move to the Premier League, having reportedly rejected Chelsea last summer.
Furthermore, Roma’s valuation of Wesley is said to be around €60m (£51m), which is almost double that of Vanderson, who _ASRomaLive_ say could be on the market for between €35m (£30m) and €40m (£34m).
What do fans need to know about Vanderson?
------------------------------------------
The 25-year-old has been with Monaco for four and a half years, having signed from Gremio in the January 2022 transfer window.
Vanderson managed to establish himself as a regular starter in the first month after his arrival in Europe, and he has gone on to make 155 appearances in all competitions for his current club.
It should be noted that the fullback did spend an extended period on the sidelines last season, with two separate hamstring injuries, and that would have to be taken into account before any bid is lodged.
Do Newcastle United need another right-back?
--------------------------------------------
The addition of Amar Dedic means that head coach Matthias Jaissle is not exactly lacking depth on the right-hand side of defence.
Of course, Tino Livramento’s ongoing injury problems and doubts over his long-term future at the club mean that a replacement may be needed at some point.
For now, though, it does look like the Magpies will be content to keep Dedic and Livramento as their two primary options at right-back.
