Arsenal fans send a difficult message to Bruno Guimaraes after what has just happened

Arsenal fans were over the moon when Bruno Guimaraes was signed in the summer.

The Brazilian has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League for a few years now, and he has already delivered for the Gunners in his short time there.

Guimaraes scored a screamer against Sunderland to win the game for Arsenal, and many have since been of the opinion that he should be a guaranteed starter next to Declan Rice in the middle of the park.

However, what happened during England’s comfortable win over Czechia on Tuesday night has changed that view among many Arsenal supporters.

Arsenal fans tell Bruno Guimaraes he will not start ahead of Myles Lewis-Skelly

Myles Lewis-Skelly started for England against Czechia on Tuesday night, and his performance seems to have impressed many people.

The Arsenal man was excellent on the ball, dealt with the opponents’ press brilliantly and looked incredibly comfortable in the middle of the park. He barely put a foot wrong all game.

Having watched that, many Gooners took to social media to deliver a difficult message to Bruno Guimaraes – that he will have to settle for a spot on the bench for the foreseeable future.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Myles Lewis-Skelly! I’m sorry Bruno, but you’re gonna have to hold the bench for a bit.”

Another wrote: “Bruno, I love you, but sorry, Lewis-Skelly has to be an undisputed starter.”

“Yeah, Bruno Guimaraes might have to hold the bench for now. Myles Lewis-Skelly should be starting every game from here on,” said another.

Another Gooner reacted by saying: “Myles Lewis-Skelly is a baller. Bruno has to hold the bench now.”

“Zubimendi and Bruno have got to fight for a spot now. Lewis-Skelly is a bonafide starter,” posted another.

Myles Lewis-Skelly was England’s best midfielder against Czechia

Lewis-Skelly started in midfield alongside Manchester City’s Elliot Anderson and Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham. The two players are both worth well over £100 million.

Yet, it was the Arsenal man who came out of the win against Czechia looking like the best midfielder on the pitch. Sofascore gave him a 7.4/10 rating, while Bellingham and Anderson were rated 7/10 and 7.3/10 respectively.

Lewis-Skelly had 72 touches of the ball and completed 53 of his 58 attempted passes, maintaining a very impressive 91 per cent passing accuracy. He had one unsuccessful touch in the entire game.

The Arsenal number 49 also made 26 carries of the ball at a collective distance of over 160 metres. He completed three of his four attempted duels and was brought down three times.

It really was a fine performance by Lewis-Skelly, and if we’re basing Mikel Arteta’s team selection on that display, we think the teenager has to start against Leeds United on Saturday.
