Shedeur Sanders gave little to no reaction to the Cleveland Browns' AFC North rivalry win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, with a new video showing his blank expression.

Sanders lost out on winning the starting quarterback role with Deshaun Watson taking over after missing the entire 2025 season, with the former Pro Bowl quarterback impressing so far. Watson has led the Browns to a 3-1 record while completing 69% of his passes, with six touchdowns to just two interceptions.

It's the best football he's played since his trade from the Houston Texans in 2022, having missed huge portions of his five years in Cleveland due to injuries and suspensions. Watson's impressive performances will keep Sanders on the bench, perhaps for the rest of the season, with the quarterback still waiting for his chance. And some fans had questions when they saw Sanders show little emotion after their win.

Sanders did not react after Andre Symzt's field goal meant they'd defeat Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers in what is an unlikely start to Cleveland's season.

The second-year quarterback is obviously disappointed not to be starting and has reportedly refused to meet with certain teams with established quarterbacks — such as the Baltimore Ravens — while looking to play as soon as possible.

Watson is still owed over $75 million by the Browns, meaning his play could earn him an extension this year, which could end any chance of Sanders being the starter and perhaps force him to look for a trade.

Sanders could not hide his disappointment at losing the quarterback battle, but he has not wavered in his confidence.

Sanders and Watson have appeared close at times this season

He told reporters, "I think I did what I was able to do. I grew from a lot of things, and I have experience now. I'm always the same confidence-wise. It's not in my hands, and I can't speak on how other people feel."

He added, "My abilities are my abilities... But I think vs. anybody, I always pick me. So at this point it's about in due time, whenever it's my time.”

Although the clip of Sanders opting not to celebrate may not be a good look, he has been seen smiling and congratulating Watson on several occasions throughout the season, seemingly embracing the role of backup for now.

Sanders still has two more years on his contract with the Browns, but his rookie-scale deal is easily tradeable. He could become an option for a team if they are to lose a quarterback due to injury, as we saw with the New York Giants, who traded for J.J. McCarthy.
