**Mikel Arteta has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, committing his future to the club until June 2030.**
The announcement is a significant boost for Arsenal, who have placed their faith in Arteta after he guided them to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season.
Arteta’s position has changed considerably since he was appointed head coach in December 2019. There were plenty of questions about his suitability for the job during the early years of his reign, particularly as Arsenal struggled for consistency and slipped further away from the Premier League’s leading clubs.
Those doubts have now been answered.
Arteta became Arsenal’s seventh title-winning manager last season as the club secured their 14th top-flight championship and fourth Premier League title. His success has also given him the best win percentage of any full-time manager in Arsenal’s history, with a 62.05 per cent record from his 361 matches in charge.

The new contract is a clear indication that Arsenal see last season’s title as the beginning of something rather than the conclusion of Arteta’s rebuilding project.
The club’s co-chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke said they were “excited for what lies ahead” and stressed their determination to create more memories after last season’s success.
“We share a special bond with Mikel,” they said. “We are so proud of everything we have achieved since he returned to the club in 2019.”
CEO Richard Garlick also made clear that Arsenal’s ambition is to establish a sustained period of success under Arteta.
“This is an important time in Arsenal Football Club’s history. We want to create a winning era together with Mikel,” Garlick said.
That backing gives Arteta the stability to continue developing the squad and trying to establish Arsenal as regular challengers for the biggest honours.
It also represents an important moment for Arteta personally. The manager has faced significant scrutiny during his time at Arsenal, particularly before the team developed into genuine title contenders, but last season’s success has gone a long way towards silencing those who questioned whether he could deliver the club’s first league title since 2004.
Arteta said he felt “honoured” to be leading Arsenal through what he described as a special period in the club’s 140-year history.
“We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together,” he said.
The challenge now is different to the one Arteta faced when he first arrived. He has already overseen the rebuild and taken Arsenal back to the summit of English football. His task over the next four years will be to keep them there and add further trophies, such as a first Champions League success.
