Beer and bratwurst were devoured in equal measure as Munich met Merseyside for the inaugural Docktoberfest at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton’s waterfront home was transformed into a fun-packed festival of beer, food, live music and entertainment last weekend, all inspired by the world’s largest folk festival.
The sold-out celebration saw around 1,000 revellers attend the Bavarian-inspired celebration on Village Street, with live brass bands, DJs, games, giveaways and VIP dining forming part of a nine-hour extravaganza.
The free-to-roam format allowed guests to tailor their own party atmosphere across five interconnected venues throughout the afternoon and evening, each one offering its own food, drink and entertainment experience.
Kendall’s Social formed the backdrop for the celebrations, with the converted ‘bierhalle’ the place to be for live music on the main stage from Fat Cat Brass, a high-energy brass band and the more traditional Boulevard Oompah.
A series of Bavarian-themed competitions were also staged, including a take on the classic Stein Holding challenge, against the clock Pretzel Eating and the breathless bratwurst Relay offered the opportunity to win Everton-related prizes, including the chance to watch the Men's team train.
Nearby, The Queen’s Head hosted a dedicated tasting and sampling room, while The Prince Rupert pub hosted karaoke, games, challenges and an interactive photo wall.
Dixie’s by Budweiser was transformed into a Bavarian food hall, while neighbouring Domingos provided a more refined experience, offering themed multi-course meals during the afternoon before transforming into a stylish riverside cocktail lounge as evening fell over the Mersey.
And with All The Classics DJ Set keeping the vibe going long into the night, revellers raised a stein to a hugely successful evening.
Aaron Duckmanton, Chief Revenue Officer at Everton, said: “A huge thank you to all who attended the first Docktoberfest this past weekend.
“The atmosphere throughout the day was amazing and to see over 1,000 people having a great time made it all worthwhile.
“Once again, Hill Dickinson Stadium has shown its versatility in staging another cultural event that has mass appeal, and going forwards we will continue to explore innovative ways to keep opening up our magnificent stadium to the public.”
