Ethan Ampadu may be returning to Leeds United training this week with a defeat still fresh in his mind, but Leeds United will hope the club captain is buoyed by another impressive international display which he can take into Arsenal on Saturday.

Ampadu's Wales team were beaten on Sunday evening by Denmark, slipping to a disappointing 1-0 defeat in their latest Nations League game. Rasmus Hojlund's second-half penalty proved enough to seal victory for the visitors, who now sit second in the group on six points.

Wales actually moved off the bottom of the table in their group after Norway's defeat to Portugal, with the extended three-week break being a series of highs and lows for the Leeds skipper. While they beat Norway at home last week, Craig Bellamy's team lost three of their four games during the break.

Ampadu played every minute of every game and has had little time to rest up before throwing himself back into training with Daniel Farke's men, as they prepare for a testing trip to the champions this weekend.

But while it has been a tough slog at times for the Welsh, Ampadu has emerged with plenty of credit for his performances, with the midfield man being singled out in the recent loss to Denmark.

In their player ratings, Wales Online gave the Leeds captain a score of 8 and said; "So composed on the ball, and mopped up superbly on the edge of his own area. No player made more tackles on the night, and he also made a few interventions that broke up some promising Denmark moves."

It could have been a rating from a Leeds game this season with the club leader similarly giving his all for his country. With all the players returning from the international break and so many have experienced a mixture of a tough break or a fruitful one, the onus will be on Ampadu to ensure all minds are switched firmly on Leeds only.

‌

To have the captain playing well and boosted by his own personal display last time out can certainly help Leeds as they get ready for a tough test in the capital, while Dan James will hope to force his way into Farke's thinking after not featuring last time out despite playing in the three previous games for the Welsh.
