Chiefs might have a huge problem on defense amid concerning three-week trend

Chiefs might have a huge problem on defense amid concerning three-week trend image

The Kansas City Chiefs are a perfect 4-0 to start the 2026 regular season. They've looked like a juggernaut once again, as the offense is thriving with new addition Kenneth Walker III, and Patrick Mahomes looks like he's back to his vintage self.

However, that doesn't mean things are going perfectly for the Chiefs. Their wide receiver depth chart is being tested early this season, and the defense has been underwhelming through four weeks so far.

ESPN's Nate Taylor highlighted one major issue for the Chiefs that has a chance of going from a worrying trend through four weeks to a significant problem by season's end. That issue? The lack of sacks from the defense this season.

Chiefs' sack trend since Week 2 could become a huge problem

"This stat might seem unbelievable, but it's true: The Chiefs haven't sacked a quarterback in the past three weeks," Taylor writes.

In Week 1, with their 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos, the Chiefs defense recorded four quarterback sacks, getting off to a good start to the season.

But starting in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, and lasting through Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins and Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Chiefs didn't record a single sack.

Considering the Raiders have allowed 12 sacks this season, the Colts nine, and the Dolphins four, the Chiefs failing to get a single sack during that stretch is a bit concerning.

Malik Willis is a tough quarterback to bring down, but the Chiefs really should've been able to get to Daniels Jones and Kirk Cousins in Weeks 2 and 4 this season.

It is way too soon to fully panic about the lack of production from the pass rush, as it's only been four weeks. But if, coming out of their Week 5 bye, this trend continues, the Chiefs might be in some serious trouble this season.
