Arsenal star Ezri Konsa has left the England squad and returned to Arsenal for checks, as per latest injury news. The defender missed England’s 3-0 win over the Czech Republic after leaving the international camp.
Ezri Konsa returns to Arsenal with injury concern
As reported by The Standard, the Arsenal defender has left the England squad and returned to his club. Konsa had featured for the full 90 minutes in England’s 7-0 win over Croatia on Saturday. Konsa had already been dealing with a fitness concern during the international break. He started England’s 3-2 defeat to Spain at Wembley but was then an unused substitute for the 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in Prague.
The Arsenal defender had also missed training before that match. England manager Thomas Tuchel said the issue was not serious. Konsa later returned to full training ahead of England’s trip to Croatia. That appeared to be a positive sign for the defender. Konsa was given the green light to start against Croatia and completed the entire 90 minutes. England went on to secure a convincing 7-0 victory.
However, Konsa has now left the England camp despite completing the match. He will return to Arsenal for further assessment. The club will check his condition and decide if he needs treatment or a break from training.
Arsenal face Premier League defensive concern
Konsa’s return comes at an important point for Arsenal, with the Premier League campaign set to resume. Mikel Arteta will want an update before deciding if the defender can play. The latest Arsenal injury news will be closely followed by the club because Konsa has become an important option in the defensive unit. His versatility also gives Arteta another option when managing the back line.
His fitness could be even more important because William Saliba remains unavailable. The French centre-back is still recovering from a persistent back problem. That leaves Arsenal with fewer established options in defence. Konsa’s experience and ability to play in different defensive roles make him a useful player for Arteta. Another injury concern would therefore be an unwanted development for the club.
Konsa’s Arsenal and England stats for the 2026/2027 season so far, as per FOTMOB:
Competitions Appearances Defensive contributions Clean sheets Duels won(%) Aerial duels won(%)
Premier League 4 23 2 66.7% 66.7%
UEFA Champions League 1 4 1 75% 50%
FIFA World Cup 8 36 2 63% 58%
UEFA Nations League 2 8 1 65.3% 61.5%
England beat Czech Republic without Konsa
Konsa missed England’s 3-0 win over the Czech Republic at Wembley after leaving the squad. His withdrawal came after he had returned to the starting XI against Croatia and played the full 90 minutes. The defender had initially appeared to overcome his fitness concern. He returned to training and was able to play the full match against Croatia.
However, his latest withdrawal means Arsenal will now assess him before deciding on his next steps. The club will have to determine whether he is fit enough to return to training or requires additional treatment. There is no clear date for Konsa’s return yet.
That means it is too early to say whether he will miss Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture. As club football resumes, the main focus will be on the assessment at Arsenal and the results of that check. The club is expected to have a clearer picture of Konsa’s condition once the medical assessment is completed.
