Liverpool look to have some work to do in the two 2027 transfer windows, with new sporting director Julian Ward now in place to work in conjunction with Andoni Iraola to decide their targets.
Liverpool made some important additions for new manager Iraola during the last summer window, including Bradley Barcola and Ronald Araujo, while Jeremy Jacquet officially moved to Anfield after a deal was agreed in January.
It feels as though there could be a bigger overhaul coming in 2027 though, as the Reds get ready to officially launch into a new era beyond some of the players who have been so important to them in recent seasons.
Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah already left in the summer, and there are doubts over the futures of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister, with the contracts of the former duo due to expire next summer.
There is yet to be any breakthrough or confirmation that the Merseyside outfit are looking to keep the veteran duo around, so we await to see developments.
Meanwhile, Mac Allister has just over 18 months left on his deal at Anfield and has already publicly confirmed that the club have told him they were unable to offer him new terms, even though midfield teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have both signed new long-term deals in 2026.
If that is the case, then 2027 would be the final chance for Liverpool to recoup good money for the Argentina international. If all three players ended up leaving, they would need to be replaced adequately given how crucial they have been to their success.
Liverpool contracts expiring in 2027:
Virgil van Dijk
Alisson
Wataru Endo
Joe Gomez
Kostas Tsimikas
The Reds are still yet to sign a specialist replacement for Salah on the right, and the jury is also out on full-back options Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.
One interesting position is the No.10 spot, where they spent £116m to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
The Germany international is still yet to truly live up to that price tag and, according to reports in Mexico, they may already be lining up an alternative to the 23-year-old, amid a claim from local journalist David Faitelson that they have made a £37m bid for Club Tijuana teenager Gilberto Mora.

Mora doesn't turn 18 years of age until next week, but he has already made more than 60 first-team appearances for Club Tijuana, while he has 13 caps for Mexico and started three of their five matches at the 2026 World Cup.
His talent and potential is there for everyone to see, and it is no surprise to see that some of the biggest clubs in European football are taking a look at the North American sensation.

A record of 15 goals in 39 starts for someone yet to turn 18 is remarkable, and there is no doubt that in his home country he is viewed as a generational talent.
If Liverpool were able to complete a deal to bring him to Europe it would be seen as a huge coup, and he has some traits that make him the ideal player for an Iraola system.
We have already seen the Spaniard asking his attacking players to be versatile as they are likely to feature all across the frontline, and Mora fits into that category perfectly.
While he has largely played as a No.10 for his club, he has also played from the left-hand side and even as a centre-forward on occasion, showcasing his flexibility in a forward line.
England manager Thomas Tuchel was asked about the wonderkid ahead of the Three Lions' World Cup knockout match against Mexico in the summer, and he made his feelings clear on the player.
We are not surprised, we have seen his quality. It’s very impressive, he’s a very young and talented player. He doesn’t get nervous on the biggest stage. He’s a top player.
Tuchel's point about him looking so assured is such an important point, because it would suggest that he won't be fazed at all by playing at a stadium like Anfield.
Of course, the youngster has played in the Azteca so he knows what it's like to play in great atmospheres, but it would help him if he did end up making the switch to England.
