This November, Houston voters will be able to reduce the city’s skyrocketing marijuana arrest rate. The Houston Freedom Act, on the ballot as Proposition A, proposes the deprioritization of marijuana enforcement by the Houston Police Department (HPD) and would ban no-knock warrants, which have left a legacy of pain and fear on Houston residents.
A no-knock warrant allows police officers to enter someone else’s home without knocking or announcing themselves.
