Efton Chism III surged to international prominence during the Patriots' Week 4 win over the Bills, reaching far to snag Drake Maye's game-winning strike in the game's waning moments.

The Eastern Washington product kept his place atop that perch on Wednesday, producing a soundbite that is sure to add some tension into the New England-Buffalo rivalry.

Here's a look at how Chism clapped back at CJ Gardner-Johnson after the Bills safety denounced him in his postgame presser.

Efton Chism III Has Perfect Response to CJ Gardner-Johnson's Comments

When asked by reporters how he felt about Gardner-Johnson's claim that he was little more than a "practice squad player", Chism opted for a more mooted response.

"He's a great player," Chism said, per the Boston Herald's Doug Kyed. "They're a great team. I got a bunch of respect for him, but we're excited fro this week, looking forward to the Raiders."

Chism's comments came in stark contract to Gardner-Johnson, who erroneously claimed that Chism wasn't a part of New England's 53-man roster and vowed that onlookers "probably won't hear from him again."

To be fair to Gardner-Johnson, he did give Chism credit for his catch. He did assert that Chism would struggle to repeat the feat if he tried it again in that situation. Gardner-Johnson also called out the Patriots for not directing the ball towards Romeo Doubs in crunch time.

It's hard to argue that anyone other than Chism got the last laugh in, however. Not only did he make the loudest pronouncement with his one-handed grab on Sunday. He backed it up by giving Gardner-Johnson grace even after the Buffalo defensive back suggested he wasn't good enough to maintain a spot on an active roster.

And did we mention that New England won the game?
