Bust of RFK reported stolen from site of DC's iconic football stadium

The famous bust of Robert F. Kennedy that greeted fans entering Washington’s football stadium for decades has been reported stolen.

According to a D.C. police report, the bust, which once stood just outside the main entrance at the ticket booth and had remained on site after the demolition of RFK Memorial Stadium, went missing sometime between Sept. 15 and Oct. 1.

The Washington Post first reported the apparent theft.

An Events D.C. employee reported to police the statue was missing from its pedestal. The pedestal was not stolen and has been placed in storage, Events D.C. told WTOP in a statement.

According to the police report, no suspects had been identified at the time the report was filed Oct. 1, and it was unclear how the statue was removed.
