Liverpool is just days away from returning to action, and what a game it promises to be at Anfield on Sunday.

Manchester City looks set to be in for a frosty reception after being found guilty of the majority of charges handed down to it by the Premier League. The Etihad club continues to protest its innocence and has launched an appeal, but the Reds’ fans aren’t likely to show much sympathy this weekend.

Andoni Iraola’s focus will be on extending his side’s unbeaten start, with the Liverpool boss satisfied with what he’s seen so far, albeit while knowing there are areas to improve, and it won’t be long until he gets the chance to add to his squad again in January.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid)

Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave Real Madrid in the summer of 2027, according to Spanish journalist Francois Gallardo, amid sensational reports suggesting a move to Liverpool could be back on.

Gallardo has claimed to Defensa Central that the Reds have been in talks with Mbappe’s mother in recent weeks, having also spoken to her and the player when he was on the move from Monaco in 2017.

Mbappe is said to be lining up a move to the Premier League, with his priority being Liverpool, although Defensa Central does note that Real has no intention of selling him.

Liverpool.com says: If you read Gallardo's post, he seems pretty confident about Mbappe leaving Madrid next summer. We're not sure that confidence is well placed.

We just can't see any way he ends up at Liverpool in 2027, nor any other club for that matter. He's under contract at the Bernabeu until 2029, and there is zero chance of Real willingly letting him go.

Josh King (Fulham)

Liverpool is “seriously considering” signing Fulham’s Josh King as the 19-year-old continues to impress, according to Swiss site 4-4-2.ch.

The Reds aren’t alone in their interest though, with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund also claimed to be eyeing the young midfielder. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is said to be convinced of his qualities, while it’s suggested that Liverpool has been monitoring him for some time.

Fulham is yet to receive any offers, with King’s contract running until 2029, and a January move has reportedly been ruled out. Should Liverpool decide to pursue him next summer, it’s claimed it could take around $67 million (€60M) to secure his services.

Liverpool.com says: King is a player that will be worth keeping an eye on as he continues to progress this season - and it wouldn't be the first time Liverpool has looked to Fulham for one of its young starlets.

Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho of course took the same route, although both have now moved on, with the former seemingly lined up for an eventual permanent exit. It'll be interesting if the Reds try to make it third-time lucky with King.
