Despite Salah’s brilliance again and again, Paul Scholes stated that the iconic forward isn’t the Reds player he would want at Manchester United; instead, he mentioned a certain Virgil van Dijk.

Scholes was in discussion with Darts sensation and Manchester United fan Luke Littler about which Liverpool player, past or present, they would take to Old Trafford, with the latter mentioning Salah.

Paul Scholes and Luke Littler give their flowers to Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah
Given the troubles at Manchester United post Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, you could probably pick a whole team that would make them better; that’s how woeful it has been.
But in this present moment, Scholes thinks centre-backs is an issue for his former side; that’s why he gave van Dijk a mention.
Van Dijk is a modern-day great, and it could be argued that he is the greatest centre-back of the Premier League era, with two titles to his name and counting.
With Manchester United currently having to rely on Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Matthijs de Ligt at the heart of defence, then Liverpool’s rising star Jeremy Jacquet would walk into their team and make them better, never mind van Dijk.
Either way, despite being on the other side of the divide, Scholes and Littler, speaking on The Good, The Bad, and The Football’s YouTube channel, were able to talk some sense about Liverpool.
Luke Littler: “Is there any Liverpool player, past or present, you wish played for United? None.”
Paul Scholes: “Van Dijk.”
Littler: “Van Dijk? Just solid.”
Scholes: “We need a centre-half, don’t we? Maybe not now, but two or three years ago. I reckon people have been saying, ‘Gerrard’, he would’ve been a good sub for us. I’m only joking, Steven.
“If we needed a player now, it would be van Dijk, wouldn’t it? Or the keeper; other than that, nobody. Who would you have?”
Littler: “I think I would have to go with Salah. We haven’t been treated with right wingers, have we?”
Scholes: “Yeah, I forgot about him; he’s not bad, is he? I’d have two, Mo Salah and van Dijk.”
