With Hansi Flick in charge, FC Barcelona have entered another highly successful period, in which they have won all the big domestic titles, and the UEFA Champions League remains the only trophy they have yet to get their hands on.
This new successful period has come at quite an opportune time for the Blaugrana fans, just as they are saying goodbye to some of the last remaining active players from their previous golden era, which was led from the bench by Pep Guardiola.
[Only recently, Lionel Messi played his last game for Argentina](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/barcelona-send-heartfelt-message-to-lionel-messi-after-argentina-farewell/), and now, another member of that memorable team has announced his retirement from football, i.e., the forward Pedro Rodriguez.
As [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/20261007/1004235773/pedro-rodriguez-cuelga-botas-gracias-futbol-hacerme-feliz-mi-corazon-siempre-sera-cule.html) has reported, the Spaniard published a video to announce his decision to hang up his boots at 39 years of age, a few months after his contract with Lazio expired. The video begins with Pedro remembering how he made his debut with Barcelona:
**“I can still remember the noise today, thousands of people in the stands and a 20-year-old kid waiting on the touchline. That day, I stepped onto a football pitch and opened the door to another life.”**
**“At that moment, it was impossible to imagine what would come next. It all started on a dirt pitch in Tenerife, with a ball that I never let go of.”**
The winger remained with the Blaugrana first team for nine seasons, playing 321 games and scoring 99 goals. He played a crucial part in the 20 titles he won with the Catalan team during this time, which included three Champions League titles, five La Liga titles, and most notably, one sextuple. He highlighted this part of his career in the video:
**“Being part of the best Barça in history was a privilege. We won everything and amazed the world. My heart will always be Barça.”**
After leaving Barcelona, Pedro went on to play for Chelsea, Roma, and Lazio. Now, his time as a footballer has come to an end, and it remains to be seen whether he will return to the Blaugrana club in some capacity going forward.
