Liverpool's international stars jetted across the world to represent their nations during an extended three-week break, with there being some winners and losers along the way.

The international break is drawing to a close, and for many Liverpool stars, it has been an interesting few weeks away representing their national teams,
The combination of the September and October break into a singular three-week break has given some players more of an opportunity to thrive for their respective sides during a busy period.
However, the fixture schedule has looked more congested than ever, with stars having to feature in four matches during that spell, raising concerns surrounding injuries and fitness levels.
So, with that said, here's a look at some of Liverpool's international break winners and losers from the past few weeks of action.
Winners
Jeremy Jacquet

Jeremy Jacquet walked into the France senior camp for the first time during the international break, and may well have walked out as a guaranteed pick for the November break after an impressive start with Les Bleus.

The Liverpool star carried over his fine form from this season so far with him to the national team, featuring twice for new boss Zinedine Zidane, and receiving plenty of plaudits for his displays.
It was the same sort of calm and collected performances that the Reds have gotten used to in the past month, which will stand him in good stead for a place in the France team moving forward - even when William Saliba and Ibrahima Konate return from injury in the coming months.
The only down side from the break? Jacquet picked up a hamstring strain in the second appearance that stopped him from featuring in France's fourth and final match of the international run, which has since made him a doubt for Liverpool's upcoming fixtures.
Virgil van Dijk

Heading into the international break, there were some doubts about the future of Virgil van Dijk with the Netherlands national team, as it entered a new era under head coach Xavi Hernandez.
The 35-year-old captain faced a huge decision about whether to stay on or retire from international soccer. He chose the former, leading the Oranje into it's new era with UEFA Nations League action.
Van Dijk featured in all four games, as the Netherlands ended the break top of its Nations League group, with the quarter-finals firmly in its sights. In doing so, the Liverpool defender managed to hit appearance number 100, becoming just the 11th player to do so in the nation's history.

Alexis Mac Allister seems to be back to his very best, and showed it once again for Argentina during the international break with some standout performances.
The Liverpool star started in clashes with Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Benin, as the side racked up 14 goals across three matches, ending the break positively.
Losers
Cody Gakpo

Where would Liverpool be without Cody Gakpo this season? The forward has been in some fine form in the early weeks of the campaign, begging the question of why the Reds even considered a transfer exit in the summer.
While the 27-year-old looked to carry that into the international break, an injury during the Netherlands' clash with Serbia seemed to stop him in his tracks.
Gakpo landed awkwardly in the opening minutes of the match, appearing to do damage to his ankle in the process, which required him to be substituted early on.
The forward had to leave the camp early to return to Liverpool for further assessments, with doubts piling up about his availability for the upcoming run of fixtures.
Alexander Isak

Much of what was just said about Gakpo could easily apply to Alexander Isak, too. The striker has been in fine form this season, already matching his Premier League tally from the previous campaign, and looking a larger threat than before.
That appeared to carry into the international break, with the forward scoring for Sweden in a win over Romania, but that would be the end of his involvement for the national team.
A thigh injury ruled him out of action, forcing a return to Liverpool, and leaving the Reds sweating over his fitness as well over the coming days.
Jeremie Frimpong

It's not been an easy start to the season for Jeremie Frimpong, who started as the first-choice right-back, but quickly lost his space to Ronald Araujo.
A return to the Netherlands national team, after missing out on the squad in the summer for the World Cup, offered some potential relief for the defender.
However, Frimpong ran into yet more problems during the break. The 25-year-old didn't feature for a single minute for the Oranje, being left out of the matchday squad altogether for the first meeting with Serbia.
It remains to be seen whether he will get another chance under Xavi after that, but it further unlined the challenges that the Liverpool star faces for both club and country.
