Arteta earns extended contract following Arsenal’s triumphant 2025/26 season

October 8 – Arsenal have extended the contract of manager Mikel Arteta, who in May delivered a first league title in 22 years, until 2030.

The 44-year-old, who has been in charge of the club since 2019, has turned the Gunners into a perennial contender, winning the FA Cup in 2019/20, the English Premier League in 2025/26 and finishing runner-up in the UEFA Champions League last season as well

“It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” said Arteta in a statement.

“This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue.

“We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”

The club’s CEO Richard Garlick added that Arsenal and Arteta want to create ‘a winning era.’

Garlick said: “Mikel has the belief, determination and the understanding of what it takes to build something remarkable and enduring here, and we are excited to continue that journey together.”

Arteta now has the opportunity to build a long-term project at Arsenal and perhaps eclipse Arsene Wenger, who is considered the best Arsenal manager in the modern era.
