Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong has been brilliant this season for the Toffees, establishing himself as the latest academy starlet to become a regular at the club.

At the rate he is going, Harrison Armstrong is going to be among the best to ever graduate from the Everton academy. He has been sensational this season so far, looking ready and capable in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche has labelled Armstrong a ‘top player’ in the making, and by the end of the 2026/27 campaign, he will be worth well more than the £35m Nottingham Forest offered last summer. In fact, in the league this season, he has been better than anyone else at one thing.

Who has been Everton’s most successful academy graduate in the Premier League era?

You can't say Wayne Rooney 🤔

Harrison Armstrong is leading the Premier League for distance covered

A few weeks ago, Armstrong was second in the Premier League for distance covered, a testament to his hard work, intensity, and desire to impress.

But now, he has gone one better. Through five games of the Premier League season, Armstrong now leads in terms of distance covered, as FotMob shows through their data.

Armstrong has covered 60.4km so far in the league this season so far, averaging 12.2km per game, which puts him top, ahead of Pascal Gross in second and Vitaly Janelt in third.

# Player Total distance Per game

1 Armstrong 60.4km 12.2km

2 Gross 59.7km 11.9km

3 Janelt 58.8km 11.8km

4 Stach 58.3km 11.7km

5 Scott 57.7km 11.7km

Everton’s closest player to Armstrong is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has covered 56.1km, and 11.3km per game, which is 0.9km less per game than Armstrong.

Per 90, Armstrong is only second as Newcastle’s Sean Steur averages 12.5km covered when he plays, although that hasn’t been as often.

How quick is Harrison Armstrong?

Armstrong covers a lot of ground, but he isn’t incredibly quick in doing it. Brennan Johnson, Everton’s fastest player this season, has a 34.3km/h top speed.

Armstrong sits as the 162nd quickest player in the Premier League this season with a top speed of 32.5km/h. This is the sixth fastest in the Everton squad behind Johnson, Tyrique George, Merlin Rohl, Thierno Barry, and Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 19-year-old is still quick, just not in a way that it is one of his standout traits. But he more than makes up for that with the amount of ground he covers.

David Moyes will love the amount of ground that Armstrong covers in midfield and as he continues to develop, he will only get better and better.
