Guinness World Records honour Arsenal youngster after extraordinary breakthrough

Arsenal youngster Max Dowman has received three official Guinness World Records certificates following a remarkable series of achievements before his 17th birthday.

The 16-year-old has been recognised for becoming the youngest Premier League goalscorer, the youngest player to win the competition and the youngest footballer to appear in the Champions League.

Dowman’s first Champions League appearance came at just 15 years and 308 days, establishing a new benchmark in Europe’s elite club competition.

He subsequently became the youngest player to score in Premier League history during Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Everton in March.

The midfielder was 16 years and 73 days old when he struck in stoppage time at the Emirates Stadium, breaking a record held by former Everton forward James Vaughan for more than two decades.

Vaughan had been 16 years and 270 days old when he scored against Crystal Palace in April 2005.

Dowman’s contribution against Everton also proved significant in Arsenal’s successful pursuit of their first Premier League title since 2004.

He later became the youngest footballer to win the competition, aged 16 years and 144 days, after Arsenal secured the championship last season.

The three achievements have now earned Dowman formal recognition from Guinness World Records.

Tom Beckerlegge, senior editor of the Guinness World Records Football Edition 2027, described his accomplishments as extraordinary.

“To have already achieved three Guinness World Records titles before turning 17 is extraordinary,” Beckerlegge said.

The teenager’s rapid development has been evident since he first emerged through Arsenal’s academy.

He made his Premier League debut against Leeds United in August 2025, becoming the competition’s second-youngest player behind fellow Arsenal academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri.

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere recently recalled handing Dowman his Under-18 debut at just 13 years old.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Wilshere described watching the youngster dribble past five opponents before creating a goal.

“I’d never seen anything like it,” he admitted.

Dowman has continued attracting attention internationally, scoring for England Under-19s against the Republic of Ireland during the October break.

He also assisted the winning goal against the United States before receiving a red card that ruled him out of England’s subsequent fixture against Belgium.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has carefully managed Dowman’s introduction to senior football despite his exceptional progress.

With three world records already secured, the academy graduate has established himself among English football’s most exciting young prospects while continuing his development at Arsenal.
