David Moyes has had a brilliant start to this season as Everton manager.
After five games, the Toffees remain unbeaten in the Premier League, but it’s not all sunshine and roses around the Hill Dickinson Stadium unfortunately.
Indeed, there’s still a fair amount of fan unrest around Merseyside at the moment after a truly bizarre end to the transfer window. At one point, Harrison Armstrong looked set to be sold to Nottingham Forest, while Everton finished the window in disastrous fashion.
Beto was allowed to leave the club towards the end of the window with the view of signing a new striker on deadline day.
Folarin Balogun was supposed to join Everton on deadline day, but that deal collapsed at the eleventh hour.
As you can imagine, David Moyes wasn’t best pleased about this situation, and Sam Allardyce has now disclosed a conversation he recently had with Moyes about Everton’s transfers.
Who has been Everton’s most successful academy graduate in the Premier League era?
You can't say Wayne Rooney 🤔
What David Moyes told Sam Allardyce
Allardyce spoke about recently meeting Moyes at a charity function and the conversations they had.
The former England boss said that Moyes is doing a great job, but he did note that the Everton manager was open about the fact he wants some better players.
“I was talking about the fact that we talked a bit about Man City, obviously. I talked a bit to Moyes about how is it at Everton,” Allardyce said.
“Everton are doing good, aren’t they? Yeah. Is he happy?” Allardyce was asked.
“He’s doing a great job. Well, like everything, we all want it to be better.
“We all want to have better players, because better players make better managers. You know what I mean? So, he would like some more players.” Allardyce said.
“Obviously, I don’t think you can ever be satisfied with what players you’ve got. You must always try and find a better one in the windows that open. Because if you sit and linger, you fall backwards in this league.”
Moyes wants better players, and you can hardly blame him. The transfer window clearly didn’t go to plan, and Everton have been left a little bit light, particularly in the attack.
Whether or not the Friedkins back Moyes in January remains to be seen, but, by the sounds of it, the Everton manager does want to dip back into the market.
