Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a move for Benfica starlet Gianluca Prestianni, who is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after attacking players ahead of the January window.

The 20-year-old has been on fire for Benfica since the start of the new season, having already found the back of the net eight times to go along with three assists.

One club that has certainly taken notice of the winger’s rise are Spurs, who are reportedly plotting a January offer for Prestianni.

The Argentine winger’s contract contains a €100m (£87m) release clause, making a deal potentially complicated, and it was previously reported that Aston Villa could challenge Roberto De Zerbi’s side for the pacy wide man.

Blow for Tottenham as Gianluca Prestianni does not want January exit

A new report from Record (as relayed by Sport Witness) confirms Tottenham’s interest in the Argentine, but Villa are not mentioned as one of the interested parties.

Instead, it is revealed that Spurs could face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Brighton, who are all said to be keeping an eye on Prestianni’s progress.

However, in a blow to Tottenham and the winger’s other suitors, it is revealed that the player is not considering leaving Benfica in January.

Prestianni has decided he wants to remain at Estádio da Luz until next summer and attempt to take his team to the Portuguese title this season. It is suggested that the growing transfer interest from England has so far not had an effect on the Argentine’s stance.

Prestianni is willing to sign a new deal with Benfica

Record say that Benfica are making an ‘urgent push’ to renew the 20-year-old’s contract, and are planning to accelerate talks when the player returns from international duty.

In a blow for Tottenham and other interested clubs, the outlet claims that Prestianni is also keen on putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Lisbon club.

The winger recently changed his representation to Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute, who plan on sitting down with Benfica to discuss a contract over the next few weeks, with Marco Silva’s side willing to offer the youngster a big pay rise.
