Former Newcastle United and Manchester City prospect Alfie Harrison has ended his search for a new club by penning a short-term deal with Scottish Premiership outfit Dundee.
The 20-year-old joined the Magpies from City in February 2024 and in what was viewed of something of a coup at the time. Harrison showed flashes of his ability and potential during his time on Tyneside - but was unable to progress into the senior setup on a regular basis despite featuring in a number of pre-season friendlies during Eddie Howe’s time in charge.
The attacking midfielder left Newcastle when his contract came to an end during the summer and despite interest from home and abroad, he remained without a club as the current season got underway.

However, after spending time on trial with Dundee and scoring in a friendly during the international break, Harrison has now agreed to become a permanent member of Stephen Pressley’s squad and the youngster has already set his sights on earning himself a longer stay with the Dens Park club.
The former Magpies youngster told the club website: “I’ve loved every bit of my trial. From the first day I stepped into the building, it felt like the right atmosphere. It was somewhere I wanted to show what I’m about, and now hopefully I can push on and keep doing my thing. The way everyone has welcomed me, you can see the love for the club. I’d love to be here for a long period of time, but that’s down to me to show.”
Manager Pressley added: “We had a feeling that when the window closed, our business was complete, but due to unforeseen circumstances around injury, we’ve been forced back into the market. As a result of that, Alfie joined us on trial several weeks ago and has worked really hard. We think he’s a young player with great potential that can add competition to the squad, and we’re delighted to welcome Alfie on board.”
Harrison could come up against a familiar face on his competitive debut as Dundee travel to face a Falkirk squad continuing former Magpies academy forward Ben Parkinson on Saturday afternoon.
