Cleveland Browns superstar cornerback Denzel Ward might own a portion of the Cleveland Guardians, but that didn't stop him from a big pregame prediction.
Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward is a minority owner of the Cleveland Guardians now, but that hasn't stopped the Nordonia High School alumni from being a fan.
Ahead of Game 4's elimination game between the Guardians and Chicago White Sox on Thursday night, Ward used his media availability before practice on Thursday to deliver a bold prediction about his hometown baseball team.
"We're winning it all, man," Ward said. "We're going to win it all."
The Guardians defeated the White Sox on Wednesday to claw back into the ALDS. Cleveland is still down 2-1, and faces elimination from the MLB Playoffs on Thursday night in Chicago.
"Good way to fight back, like they say, that's why we've got a series, that's what a series is for," Ward said. "It just shows their fight but I'm telling you, we're going to win it all. You heard it here first and we're going to make it happen."
Of the five teams still remaining in the 2026 MLB Playoffs, the Guardians have the longest odds at winning the World Series at +2200 or 22/1 on most major sportsbooks. But now that Ward owns a piece of the franchise, he can fully lean into his Guardians fandom.
Speaking of defying the odds, Ward's Browns are 3-1 after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football. The Browns came into the season with a win total of 5.5 games. Throughout the first four weeks of the season, they're already half way to clearing the "over" on their preseason win total.
Ward's Browns can get closer to their own playoff trip in Week 5
The Browns are one of the big surprises in the NFL, but they're still underdogs for Week 5's matchup against the New York Jets, who only have one victory this season and are likely playing for the No. 1 overall selection in the 2027 NFL Draft.
"There's been a lot of disrespect towards the Browns for a long time," Ward said. "Like I said, we kind of keep everything internal and we got our own motivation, and we're looking to go in and be 1-0 this week, and that's our main goal."
Nobody predicted the Browns to be 3-1. A few months ago, as the Guardians' offense struggled, nobody expected October baseball for the third consecutive postseason.
Ward is directly involved with both organizations now. But his main focus? Beating the Jets on Sunday to improve the Browns to a 4-1 record with a real shot at a postseason berth of their own.
"You need every single game," Ward said regarding not taking the Jets lightly. "We're not going to take this one any lighter or heavier than any other game, our goal is to go 1-0 this week."
Ward's Guardians will play the White Sox at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night. With a win, Cleveland would host Chicago at Progressive Field on Saturday, the day before Ward's Browns will hope to get one step closer to their own postseason trip against the Jets on Sunday.
